TheTropical Forest is permanent exhibition of exotic animals and a centre for rescued and endangered species. School trips allow us to reach the next generation of conservation minded youngsters.

We find that children are motivated to learn when their imagination is stimulated and their curiosity is aroused through interaction with the subject. With our blend of interactive, hands-on experience, they're having so much fun that work becomes play.

Your school trip will be tailored to the age group and curriculum requirements of your group.

We offer schools an exclusive package:
Half an hour talk with hands-on encounters with animals in our purpose built Lecture Theatre.

There are four talks to choose from:
• Lifecycles
• Mini-Beasts
• Conservation
• Rainforest

The animals we use for handling include Snakes, Lizards, Mini-Beasts, Owls, Frogs and Baby Crocodiles. Different talks involve different animals.

The Schools Education Pack contains teachers notes, and a workbook for children with lots of interesting exercises.

Children also enjoy exploring our exhibition, which includes displays of Marmosets, Birds, Fish, Reptiles and Amphibians, where you can feed the fish and the tortoises.

There are also Pond Dipping and Picnic Areas.

School discount prices are £3.50 per child.
Adult to child ratios:
Age 0 - 3yrs: One adult admitted Free with every 3 children.
Age 4 - 6yrs: One adult admitted Free with every 4 children. Age 6+yrs: One adult admitted Free with every 6 children. Additional Adults £5.00

Teachers are welcome on a pre- trip visit. Please ring to arrange your visit.

As our exhibition is undercover we are able to take school trips all year round.

Roadshow
If transport is a problem, you can arrange a Roadshow when we come to your school and give a talk. One of our experienced handlers will encourage the children to touch the animals under safe supervision. We bring the creatures to you and explain their habits and environment to your group. The Roadshow is tailored to the age group and curriculum requirements of the group. Please let us know your requirements in advance so we can ensure the children enjoy an exciting, interactive learning experience.
